Some patients begin their program with constipation and others may experience constipation during the program. Below are some ways to help eliminate constipation and promote regular bowel movements. Steps 1 – 3 should be done regularly as an ongoing basis. To help relieve constipation, start at step 4 and work your way down the list. Give each step approximately a week before moving on to the next step. Contact someone from our team for any questions or further instructions.
- Water. Drinking half your body weight in fluid ounces will help with having regular bowel movements.
- Exercise. This helps to get your bowels moving.
- Flax or other Fiber. Adding flax seed, avocado, or possibly psyllium husk to your daily diet will help promote regular bowel movements.
- Magnesium (Calm Powder). Purchase Vitality Calm (unflavored) from the internet or a grocery store and take 2 – 4 rounded teaspoons daily. Start with 1 tsp and work your way up to 4 tsp if needed.
- Saltwater. Mixing 1 tablespoon of pink Himalayan Salt with 8 ounces of warm water, and drinking it as quickly as possible first thing in the morning.
- MCT Oil. You can increase your MCT oil by 1 tablespoon per day first thing in the morning and eventually take up to 4 tablespoon daily.
- Senna Tea. This should be used as your very last resort. It is a harsh herbal tea laxative that will promote bowel movements.
